It’s Just A Temporary Inconvenience

The definition of convenience is the state of being able to do something easily with little effort and no hindrances. So, a temporary inconvenience might be a situation where conditions are not ideal and enabling.

When hard times hit or in an inconvenient situation, you have to drag through opposition, setback, and challenges to achieve your objectives.

Consider Joseph’s pathway to the palace (pit-prison-palace). Think about the Israelite’s exodus before the Red Sea and their many battles to possess the promised land. Reflect on Jesus’ mission to save the world.

Moses

These instances all demonstrated grave inconvenience and fierce opposition regarding their objectives.

Consider also Elijah the Hebrew prophet, Nehemiah the wall builder, Paul the missionary, Peter the church leader, Martin Luther King Jr. the civil rights activist, Nelson Mandela the nationalist.

These individuals all found themselves frequently in inconvenient situations. It leads therefore to two conclusions.

The Purpose of Temporary Inconveniences

Firstly, temporary inconvenience owing to various causes will always be present. Secondly, most notable achievements occurred notwithstanding huge inconveniences. Hence, the inconvenience may be considered a prerequisite or stepping stone to significant accomplishments.

In fact, the more opposition to a goal achieved, the more glorious the achievement.

One other truth to realize is that each inconvenience is temporary. Once you sustain a level of consistent pursuit, you will have passed by the inconveniences before you know it.

Paul gives us a very important guide to navigating our way through inconvenient situations in the Second Epistle to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 4:15-18). He begins thus:

15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

He says he does not relent in his efforts because of our knowledge that glory awaits us at the end.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (v.17) Praise God!

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (v.18)

The attitude of the achiever will be to fix his gaze on the prize, and not on the opposition or inconvenient situations. You must push through to the prize of achieving your goals despite the inconveniences. Unless of course, you count your goals as being unimportant.

Think of what drove Jesus Christ to the cross.

The Crucifixion

He had his eyes on the crown: you! You were the crown He envisioned, for He was always the eternal King. “…who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrew 12.2)

He is set down for your sake.

Let the desire and passion you possess for the Advancing of God’s Kingdom, push you through your temporary inconvenience.

Whatever challenges, setbacks or opposition may come your way…

always remember, ‘this too shall pass!’

Dwell In God

Psalms 91 is one of those popular scriptures that we all seem to know. The words penned in the verses are indeed powerful and liberating.

Many times, we recite scripture but “deny” or realize the power of the words we speak. The bible calls this a form of godliness that is so prevalent in the Church today.

To be a true worshiper of God we must learn to take God at His word and trust that it will do just what He says. And how do we accomplish? By developing a relationship with Him whereby we demonstrate that He can trust us with mysteries of the word that the world cannot understand.

The first verse in this chapter is one that gives assurance that when we have a relationship with God He will be there with us and He will take care of us.

“He that dwelleth…” –  To dwell means this is a place just to stay but this is a place where you live. God does not want us to just be where He is but want us to live in His presence.

In His presence, we find rest, comfort and peace. In the dwelling presence of the Lord, the cares of this world are locked outside, we get to lay aside every weight and burden and enter into His rest.

Dwell in God

Once we dwell in the presence of Abba we develop a relationship that grants us access “…in the secret place.”  Everyone cannot go into the secret place of The Most High because this is a sacred place.

God told Moses to remove his shoes because the place where he stood was Holy Ground. His shoes bore the dirt from the world and were unfit to be worn on that sacred ground where God wanted to commune with Moses and reveal Himself to him.

In this place, God desires intimacy with us. This requires us to shed outer garments, those things of the world that we can hide behind and make us unclean in the presence of God.

Things like shame, guilt, and unforgiveness stop our worship from making it into the Holy of Holies and stop us from “…abiding under the shadow of the Almighty.

The shadow of God alludes to the omnipresence of God, the part that we cannot see but is always there. Again, we have the assurance that God has provided for us a place where we can be protected by an all-powerful Savior.

Because of our relationship, the Savior wants you to know that He has us covered and protected. Therefore, there is no need for us to fear. He will not allow us to be destroyed.

In fact, while we are abiding under His shadow He promises to give us beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning and peace for despair. Hence, we can overcome the devil and experience victorious lives.

Getting to know God is an awesome experience and no better way to do this than by spending time in His word. Once you do, the mysteries of God will be revealed and you will develop unshakeable faith in Him and the promises He has made to us in His word.

He is waiting with open arms to receive us but He is seeking a people who desire Him as much as He desires us.

Shalom….

We Must Fight

“We must fight” – this is a very powerful phrase. In this day and age, how many of us take steps to fight against evil?

We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against evil spirits in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Click To Tweet

Anything that is of God the devil will fight against it. Whether it is your marriage, children, your peace of mind or even your business, the devil is after it. When we are faced with struggles in these areas of our lives, at first glance we assume it is because of the other person.

When we see rebellious behavior in our children it’s easy to think it’s because of disobedience But the issues you have are with their behavior. However, it’s the presence of Satan trying to take the opportunity to distract and destroy.

Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy! He does this successfully because he distracts our focus into thinking we are wrestling with flesh and blood when really our fight is with him.

All Satan needs is a crack, a seam, any small opening to get in. Once inside he takes over like the invasion of Germany in Poland. Once Satan has found an entry point, destruction only follows.

Therefore, saints, we must fight! Not physically but spiritually.

Spiritual Warfare

We must go to God’s Word and declare it over the situations in our lives. We must turn down our plates and deny our flesh to feed our spirit. Additionally, we must remove self in order to fully fight the war against Satan and his allies.

Sometimes during the battle, we must remove thoughts like “I do enough already” or “I’m not strong enough” in order to win the war.

Moses allowed his insecurities to get in the way of him going immediately to Pharaoh to free the Israelites. We may have internal struggles that at times can hinder us from pushing through a spiritual warfare.

Insecurities like low self-esteem, abuse or other impediments can distract or hold us back from pushing forward. But we must surrender these things before God if we want to be victorious in our fight.

Satan will use even these things to distract you.

The future of our families, marriages, children, ministries and businesses depend on us closing any opening to Satan and relying on the strength of God for us to win.

Saints, We Must Fight!
